Weird isn't it that one of the few major industries NOT to try and claim any funds from the government bailout is healthcare or any of the healthcare insurance companies.
Why would this be? Maybe it has something to do with the industry's constant gouging of Joe Public.
Have a read of this shit-gripping set of 2007 statistics...
• 72 Million: Number of American adults who reported they were having problems in paying off medical bills or debt.
• 29% of whom were unable to pay for food, heat or rent because of their medical debt
• 30% were forced to use a credit card to pay off medical debt
• 39% of American adults used their ENTIRE savings to repay medical debt
• 54% of all US personal bankruptcies are due to medical debt
• The cost of annual medical insurance premiums has risen 119% in the 9 years from 1999 to 2008
• As a result of increased costs, the number of uninsured non-elderly Americans without health insurance has risen from 31 Million in 1987 to almost 48 Million in 2007.
Anyone who says they don't want or need a socialized healthcare system such as in place in Britain or Canada is an idiot and needs their head examined.
Ironic, given that right now they probably couldn't even afford to even see a neurosurgeon!
